Consider This: Linguistic Accuracy for the Period

The language spoken by characters in the game was researched and developed by the creators of the game to be accurate to Colonial America. As stated in the video, some aspects of the various dialects are toned down in consideration for the modern audience, but the research done by the development team is a testament to their commitment to authenticity.

In this video, language consultants discuss how Ubisoft portrayed the Mohawk culture and language within the game. Growing up in a Mohawk village, the main character Ratonhnhaké:ton (Connor) holds a world-view that is influenced by his background. Ubisoft wanted to create an authentic and historical depiction of Native American life in the colonial northeast.

Is the development team's commitment to historical accuracy enough to create an authentic recreation of the period? Or do you think it is impossible to tell a story without altering our perception of the past?
